Corona Journal, 4 May: Day whatisthepoint
10am Awake and, you guessed it – lesson planning. I spend my whole life with everyone assuming I’m going to become a teacher and me vehemently denying it, and look where we are. Oh corona, look what you’ve done.
10:30am Colouring in numbers, cutting them out and sticking them on pots. I’m not even sure what I’m going to use them for. Flatmate takes one look at my arts and crafts projects and says, ‘Annie Warren, twenty-six’.

5pm Slow day, which has so far been divided thus:
20% lesson planning
30% editing a script from an author
10% watching Normal People
15% scrolling the Connell’s Chain Instagram page
25% screaming with laughter at Elton John singing ‘I’m Still Standing’ on the Together At Home concert
6pm Mum suggests a group WhatsApp call with two of my grandmas (I have three). I am surprised at her high tech proposal and even more surprised that it actually works! The calls are absolutely hilarious, especially when Nanny S shows the phone to Grandad K and he is absolutely baffled at how we all manage to be on the same screen but not in the same room. Nanny S also shows us the facemasks she has been making; she offers to send me one and I obviously accept (CORONA but make it FASHION) but then she tells me she’s all sold out for the time being. The masks are a hit in East Sussex.

7pm Head out for a socially distant walk/jog with pal. We have a good natter (from 2m apart) and she brings me a homemade cookie, which she has to carry for me in her running belt because my only pocket is one at the back of my leggings and I’m worry I’ll get bum sweat all over it.
7:30pm Still doing laps of the park that I know the dog I used to dogsit for gets walked in, but still no sign of him. Maybe his owner has moved away? Maybe they’re dead?
8:30pm Trundling home from socially distant walk/jog, munching my cookie (delicious) and wondering if a good rule of thumb would be to only meet friends for exercise if they promise to bring baked goods.
