Corona Journal, 11 April: Day 27
8am Wake up from the worst anxiety dream so far, in which I made my first TikTok. Terrifying.
8:30am Really don’t want to get up today. Want to stay in bed and cuddle boyfriend. But need to get up because I have a virtual Easter egg hunt to prepare for M’s lesson this morning; bought the eggs specially yesterday, as well as the ultimate prize – a Lindt Easter bunny. Which I will obviously have to eat, given that I won’t be physically with M, but which I’m sure he will get some joy from helping me find.
9:15am Easter eggs hidden. The idea is that M has to direct me around the living room and tell me where to look in Italian. I am quite pleased with the idea.
9:30am Text from their mum. They forgot the lesson and have gone on a country walk. I am raging but text back, ‘No worries! Have a lovely walk :)’.
10am I can’t be too angry. If I were doing a lesson right now, I would have missed the couple across the road doing what I assume is a Joe Wicks workout in their living room in only their underwear.
12pm Right, that’s it. It’s time.

12:15pm Painting hair dye onto the tips of my hair and wrapping the sections in foil, singing Take Me Home Country Roads to myself. The ridiculousness of this image doesn’t escape me.

1pm Even leaving the dye on for twice the time the packet recommended hasn’t really succeeded in changing the tone of my hair. Gutted.
4pm Boyfriend, flatmate and I return home from a lovely long walk round the fancy houses towards Primrose Hill. Pass the Abbey Road crossing on the way, which has been repainted but isn’t quite devoid of people trying to take advantage of corona to get they Abbey Road photo for the Gram. Pick up emergency supplies on the way home – ice, more tonic and a bottle of gin to go with the tonic. Oh, and milk, and a can each of Tory Fanta (San Pellegrino).
5:30pm The boys are watching the cricket from last summer which is being replayed. Flatmate makes me a gin and tonic, and I use the opportunity to empty the rest of the pink dye into my hair. I leave the dye in for ages, long enough clean the bathroom floor and sink before washing it out; it makes not the slightest difference, despite how light some bits of my hair are.

7:30pm Another family Zoom quiz. Again, absolute carnage. I discover how to make Zoom backgrounds.

9:30pm Family quiz ends and I join load up EurovisionAgain – every Saturday night, an old Eurovision is being streamed live to YouTube. The year is only announced 15 minutes before it goes live; tonight’s is Vienna in 2015, which, it has to be said, is not an absolute banger of a year, but is not a complete let down either. A Whatsapp group is created and the commentary begins. It’s all being taken very seriously – there’s even online live voting! Sweden won in 2015 and Sweden win again tonight, probably because their representative looks like this.
